Our story · Phoenix, AZ

It started with a pressure washer and a bucket.

Two years in driveways, one app, and one realization that changed how we saw the whole business. This is how Detailing Scaled came to be.

The first setup was as basic as it gets. A pressure washer, a bucket, a handful of towels, and whatever we could fit in the trunk. We didn't have a plan for a company. We had cars to clean and a phone that rang when someone liked how the last one turned out.

So we cleaned cars. A lot of them. Every job paid for the next piece of gear, and the gear got real fast. A water tank so we didn't depend on the customer's spigot. A generator so we didn't depend on their outlet. A proper polisher, proper lighting, proper chemicals, and a truck that was set up to work out of instead of just carrying things around. Somewhere in there we stopped being two guys with a pressure washer and became a mobile detailing company, with everything that word carries.

Two years in that industry teaches you things you can't learn any other way. What a booked job is actually worth. What a slow week does to your head. How fast a good customer becomes a repeat customer when you show up on time and the car looks right. And how much of the job happens after the towels are put away: the texts, the quotes, the follow-ups, the receipts, the question of whether the month was actually good or just busy.

Detail Pro

That last part is what sent us looking for software. We wanted one app that held every job, every customer, and every dollar in and out, and did it from a phone in a driveway. What we found were CRMs built for other industries with a detailing label taped on, priced for shops with a front desk and a payroll. For where we were, none of it made sense. So we built our own.

That became Detail Pro. It was the thing that ran our business before it was ever a product. Jobs, customers, revenue, expenses, profit, all in one place, all from the truck. With the app and the equipment and two years of reps, the operation itself was as tight as it had ever been. We were good at detailing cars. That part was never the problem.

The realization

The problem was that we still thought of ourselves as mobile detailers. We weren't. We were businessmen who detail cars.

That sounds obvious written down. It wasn't obvious in the middle of it. When you're the one doing the work, the work feels like the business. But the work is only what you sell. The business is how people find you, why they trust you before they've met you, and what makes them pick up the phone. We had spent two years getting better at the service and almost no time on any of that. Which is a polite way of saying we finally understood the importance of marketing.

So we went and learned it, the same way we'd learned everything else: by doing it on our own company first. We built a social media following. We built a real website, one that showed prices and booked jobs on a phone. We set up a Google Business Profile and worked it until we showed up on the map. Then we started running paid ads, and for the first time the phone rang because we made it ring, not because we got lucky.

From there, the rest is history.

Detailing Scaled

Once marketing clicked, we started noticing something. The detailers around us, including the ones using Detail Pro, were exactly where we had been. Great at the cars. Stuck on everything else. The website, the ads, the tracking, the technical, time-consuming, genuinely annoying stuff that has nothing to do with paint and everything to do with whether you're going to stay in business.

We had just done all of it for ourselves. We'd done it the hard way and knew where the money went and where it didn't. So we decided to do it for other detailers, so they could focus on what they're best at. Mobile detailing. That's where Detailing Scaled was born.

We don't just build your company up. We build it with you.

That starts by sitting down and setting goals that are actually realistic: how many jobs a week, at what price, by when. Then understanding what it takes to get there, what we have to build, what you have to do, and what the numbers have to look like along the way. The website, the ads, the software, and the monthly report are just the tools. The point is the plan, and the point of the plan is that you can see it working.
